Take one part Ben Folds and one part Regina Spektor, mix it all together, and what do you get? A pretty disappointing song. Considering these two have made careers out of being super-hip piano maestros, I was looking forward to this and actually thought this song would mildly impress me.

Fingers crossed she hasn’t over-quirked her quirkiness and her next guest appearance is actually half decent.

I listened to it and thought it was pretty cool.

Its not pretentious and thats a good thing.

Yeah, it’s not BAD or anything, I just think for the two people involved, it could have been much better.

the vibe is definitely “trying too hard” or “forcing something that wasn’t meant to be”. there was obviously no truthful creative flow in this session… if there ever was, it was promptly squashed by the gods of pop high-end production.

i like it. sounds like they threw a bit of Queen in there as well.

I really didn’t know whether or not to post this track. I adore both artists, but together… a little costumey. And from the tracks I’ve already heard of Ben Folds’ new album, it’s all a bit like that. Such a shame.

I was debating heavily whether or not to post this track, because I adore both artists, but together they sound a little costumey. And unfortuntely from the tracks I’ve heard from Folds’ upcoming album, they’re all kind of like that. Such a shame.

what, jack, the dumb aaah shit? that’s a ben folds thing, all the way. think ‘not the same’. the way it was produced in this song is a little bit different from the way ben would have done it though.

fabulous. get yo head out that ass.

After hearing it several more times (and even on the radio-oh-oh) I have to say that I still like it muchly.

I actually really like this song. Sure, it doesn’t sound like truckloads of effort went into it, but isn’t that the mark of a good artist, making it seem effortless?

Ben Folds started playing this song live back in ‘07. It isn’t like they produced it together, he just asked her to guest spot on vocals. Don’t worry, they’re still just as quirky as they always were!

This page contains a live version from December ‘07 where Folds says it is the first time playing the song through. Enjoy!

    Thanks Mike!

Yeah man, pretty lame. This sounds cold and unoriginal. I hate the droning drum beat; it just doesn’t go anywhere. I like songs like Kate, and Smoke, and Ne Me Quittez which really transport the listener. I wonder who produced this… i don’t think they did a very good job
