When the hell did this happen? It looks as though while I was too busy obsessing over all things White Stripes and Icky Thump related, I let this baby slip through the cracks. I’m talking about “Pig”, a touching, bare-bones acoustic song, allegedly taken from Rivers Cuomo’s latest demo CD. Could it be a sign of what’s to come for Weezer? Who knows? But I certainly hope so. While I love this band to death, everything post Pinkerton just hasn’t had the same effect on me, but I’m really excited and interested by what Cuomo’s conjured up with “Pig”. There’s harmonica aplenty, crazy man-as-animal metaphors, and some not-so-subtle commentary on his newfound married life. I’m not to sure how it leaked, but it does kind of remind me of being back in 2002, when Rivdog would upload demos on a daily basis to the .com.
