I never actually thought I’d be writing this, but… Regina Spektor is coming to Australia. Thanks to our droogs (that means “friends”, folks) at Frontier Touring, my fellow Russian comrade will be doing a brief tour of the country with only a handful of shows around Australia and New Zealand. Tickets are worth $61.50, and if you miss out on the special Presale on Tuesday 12th of June, you can grab them on Friday 15th when they go on sale to the general public. And here I was thinking her fan base wasn’t any where near large enough to even consider us!

Tour dates are as follows:

Mon 9th July – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Wed 11th July – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Sat 14th July – Regent Theatre, Melbourne
Wed 18th July – Bruce Mason Centre, Auckland

Late 2003, when I first heard of Regina, I immediately despised her for her connection with Gordon Raphael and The Strokes. After finally biting the bullet and listening to a few of her songs, I instantly became hooked, hung my head in shame, and went on a massive downloading spree; aquiring any shred of Regina that I could get my filthy hands on. The year 2006 rolled around and before I knew it, every polka dot wearing girl was singing her praises. Sure, I’ll admit that this irritated me beyond belief, but I suppose I wouldn’t be announcing a Regina tour if this was not so.

If those praises haven’t convinced you, here’s a B-side for your downloading pleasure. Released on the Special Edition of her most recent release, Begin To Hope, if this fine tune doesn’t cause you to come down with a serious case of Reginitis, I don’t know what will.
