Hey. Guy. You can stop listening to that new Rentals mp3 on repeat, because the real godfathers of black horn-rimmed geek rock – Weezer – are back. In a recent post on the official dot com, his holiness Rivers Cuomo (under the streetwise guise of ‘R-Dawg’) confirms that preparations for for Weezer’s sixth record are well underway.

Weezer is just polishing up a batch of songs for a recording session that is going to start at the beginning of July. This will be the final recording session for our 6th album which we aim to put out in the first half of 2008. We hope you are all having good times.

No word on whether the recently leaked acoustic Cuomo demo “Pig” will be appearing on album six (are they going to go with another colour title? The Red Album?), or any of the band’s extensive catalogue of unreleased demos for that matter. Here’s “Pig”, as well as some of my favourite discarded demos that never made the cut.

i am so excited! thank you for the links and mp3’s. i hope that this new album will redeem themselves in everyone’s eyes…i was getting tired of hearing people complain about weezer’s last album.

love the weez but theyve let me down of recent. couldnt get into maladroit & make believe. hopefully #6 brings on a change with riv being married and all.
p.s one of my fav demo’s is Zep Song DC Demo from ‘01. love how they post them… sometimes the albums have been a bit empty after hearing so many new songs!
