The Flaming Lips are back! But, did they go anywhere? Well, physically speaking – no. Though their LSD slash Area 51-influenced live shows would have you thinking that the Oklahoma crazies were abducted on a regular basis.

The truth is that The Flaming Lips (FLips?) have a new, characteristically ‘zany number’ on the soundtrack for the upcoming Jessica Alba disaster, Good Luck Chuck. And in true FLips’ fashion, the extremely feel-good tune has been given the equally extremely feel-good (and somewhat ridiculous) title: “I Was Zapped By The Lucky Super Rainbow” – which probably has NOTHING to do with hallucinogenic substances.

Let us not forget that this isn’t the first time the band has tread those murky soundtrack waters – who can forget the SpongeBob Squarepants’ Movie classic – “SpongeBob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy”?

Or, for that matter, their song off the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack, “The Supreme Being Teaches Spider-Man How To Love” or something to that effect.

We suspect this title references the Lips current tourmates, Black Moth Super Rainbow.

Don’t forget the Batman Forever Soundtrack= Bad Days

I stand by The Shins’ contribution to that soundtrack. Its killer, that’s a fact.
