The Great Jack White/Bob Dylan love affair of 2007 continues! Seeing as though I can’t let go of past events (or can be bothered to find something else to post about), here’s a lazy slice of aural delight taken from night one of last week’s most talked about gig – When Bobby met Jacky in Nashville.
The pair tackle “Meet Me In The Morning”, a bluesy-number taken from 1975’s Blood on the Tracks – the real treat is that this classic has never been played live in a Dylan performance ever. Jack takes control of the vocal-reigns, while Dylan most likely sits at his keyboard looking cool and stuff, just because he can – he’s Bob Dylan.
Is it just me, or does “Meet Me In Morning” sound eerily like a sped up, shortened version of the White Stripes’ Elephant centrepiece, “Ball And Biscuit”? Either way, good choice of song, Jack. Assuming you picked it and all. Now just get the balls to ask Dylan to record an EP or album with you!
