Jumpin’ Jack White Flash
While the bombardment of last week’s increased 12MC Jack White activity regarded The Raconteurs’ second recorded outing, the rush-tastic Consolers of the Lonely, this week’s first token JW post is about Jacky Boy teaming up with them ol’ Rolling Bones (LOL I mean, Rolling Stones).
Martin Scorcese’s upcoming documentary, Shine a Light, chronicles two performances from [...]
Dave Does Bollywood
What’s better than a cheesy Bollywood music video filmed in Sydney’s own Darling Harbour? A Bollywood music video filmed in Darling Harbour, featuring none other than David McCormack and his band of Titanics performing in the background. Christmas has just come early, boys and girls.
How did this golden oldie ever slip under our Dave [...]
A week before packing his bags and heading off to record his eighth studio album, Andrew Bird has taken time out of his busy schedule of whistling and fiddling to jump onto the latest internet bandwagon to take the world by storm; celebrity blogging. Hosted by The New York Times website, this blog focuses in [...]
As outlined in their that-came-outta-nowhere press release last week, The Racs are well and truly working at break neck speed. On the same day that the record, Consolers of the Lonely was available for all walks of life to enjoy simultaneously, a video for Consoler’s first rockin’ single, ‘Salute Your Solution’, appeared on the official [...]
An exchange between Syms and myself regarding this weekend’s leaking of the new Raconteurs’ album, Consolers of the Lonely. It has been slightly edited from it’s original, Facebook form.

Coconut Records Gets Remixed
Reader beware, you’re in for a scare! The last time we checked with in with Coconut Records (Jason Schwartzman) and RAC (Remix Artist Collective), one had just sprinkled their magic remix dust all over a Shins tune, and the other had sprouted a killer ‘tache for the latest Wes Anderson outing, The Darjeeling Limited. [...]
The socially networked, hilariously awkward, community-songwriting experiment continues. We now have an appropriately poppy and tough sounding name, ’80s Radio’, to accompany the “general attitude” of the song, as was outlined by the moustachioed one in the first video. So quit wasting time and come up with some chord progressions, people!
Things learnt from this video:
1. [...]
Last night instrumental three piece Pivot played their last show in Sydney before heading overseas with a record contract in their back pockets. With the lovely Jack Ladder claiming the support slot, we were originally planning to attend this show but were unable to make it in the end because Angus was feeling unwell. [...]
Things learnt from this video:
1. There are ninety-nine ways to write a song.
2. Songwriting always begins with a general ‘attitude’.
3. This ‘attitude’ should be fun, ie. ‘poppy’ and ‘tough’, simultaneously.
Is this for real? Is he going crazy? I don’t care, because that ‘tache is still doing things to me.
Take the phone off the hook, get a box of tissues and get ready to watch the greatest underdog story this side of Rocky.

In other recent Weezer news, it seems as though Rivers’ recent single hints were for the wrong song. The first single single off Weezer’s sixth album will not be [...]
File this one under: better late than never.
The Playground Weekender Mark II (March 7, 8 and 9) was a delightfully sordid event, having far more in common with the naughty boy-haven Pleasure Island from Pinocchio than say, your star-studded, garden variety mainstream summer music festival. Much like last year, there was a scarce level [...]
